Paper Mario
Platform: Nintendo 64
Release Date: 2001
Published By: Nintendo
Multiplayer? No
So it all starts out that Peach is having a big party at the castle and invites people from all over to come! So Mario and Luigi head over to the castle and thats when you start controlling Mario. You head upstairs to go see the princess. You two are talking and all of the sudden the ground starts trembling!! Then you both notice that the castle is going up! This is what you see:
So Bowser's castle was beneath Peach is castle and now he is going up with everyone at the party going up too! Then Bowser breaks through the window to steal Peach then you find yourself in battle! So you fight a little then Bowser uses a little thing he stole from the stars called THE STAR ROD!!! He becomes invincible when he uses that so you try attacking him once then he kills you with one hit. Then after the battle he strikes you out the window and your journey begins to save the seven Star Spirits:
The Story:
This is just like any regular Mario game with saving Peach and Beating up Bowser. It has one small twist though-Your a piece of paper!! So your going all through the Mushroom Kingdom to save seven Star Spirits as a piece of paper getting new partners to help you on your quest. The story is quite long with many puzzles that are semi-hard for anyone that hasn't played the game before. Anyone who has played the game, most likely will be easy. Though it does get confusing at times because you have to do so many things to completely beat the game, its pretty fun. I would say 4.5/5 Reason for score: It gets annoying at some points because your just trying to get through somewhere but you have to keep facing one certain kind of enemy over and over again!!
The Characters:
There is a ton of characters in this game but I'm only going to name the main ones. That would just so happen to be Mario, Peach, Twink, and all of Mario's partners. Mario's partners are: Goombario, the Goomba, Kooper, the Koopa, Bombette, the Bomb-omb, Parakarry, the flying Koopa, Lady Bow, the Boo, Watt, the little light bulb, Sushi, the fish, and Lakilester, the Latiku. He has a very wide variety of partners that all help him many times through the entire game. Now here are the main characters:
Mario:
Peach:
Bowser:
I'm not really sure if you can give the characters a score but they are very good and widely assorted with many different abilities and important parts in the game so I would say 5/5
The Sound/Music:
The sound and music are okay in this game. Not that great, but not that bad either! It gets really annoying sometimes in places that your at a lot, like Toad Town or places that you get stuck at. But some places have really good music, like Forever Forest! There are even some badges that change the sound affect of when you hit something with your hammer. Those get extremely annoying after a while though... I think the sound and music should get 4/5. Reason: Annoying sometimes and really cool sometimes. It just depends where you are.
The Graphics:
For an N64 game that's characters are made of paper, wow. The graphics really pretty good for a paper game! Not really the best they could possibly be, but definitely good! Some parts it really doesn't look anything like paper though, so I'm going to give graphics a 4.5/5. Reason: Its a paper game, so everything should probably look like paper! Though it is still good graphics for the N64, so it gets a pretty good score!
Replay Value:
Tons of replay value. You can go back and try to get all the star pieces. Try for all the badges. Get every item. Make it harder by always upgrading one thing. There are SO MANY things you can go back and try to do its UNBELIEVABLE!! It would take a very long time to do every single thing in the game unless your Colten or you have the strategy guide! Replay Value defiantly gets the 5/5.
Pros:
- Many, MANY things to try to do to make it harder.
- A lot of different partners and moves to get and use.
- Puzzles that aren't to hard, but not to easy.
- Some humor to lighten everything up!
Cons:
- Music and sounds get kind of annoying.
- Facing one certain enemy over and over get old FAST.
- Somethings don't look like paper in a paper game.
Overall Score: 4.7/5 Reason: This is an extremely good game, just the fact of a few things makes it not get a perfect score. Definitely a must get if you like Mario games!
