Bring the Classics to your DS and have a huge flashback! But not one of those scary ones... A good one!
Platform: DS
Publisher: Atari
Players: 1-2 DS Download play
Rated: E - Violence
The classics are back and better in this remake for the DS, they come in the original versions and a new remix version. These games include Centipede, Tempest, Warlords, Missile Command, Breakout, Sprint, Gravitar, Asteroids, Lunarlander, and last but not least, PONG! <3 <3 <3
Thats right, Pong!! Yay Pong..
^ Remix Version of Missile Command, I think.
Storyline: There is no storyline so scroll down to controls. It'd be nice if they added a storyline. Like clubhouse games. Well. clubhouse doesn't exactly have a storyline, But stamp modes and the missions act like them. >_>
Controls: The controls in this game bring the classics to a new funner level, the touch screen adds a more.. Active? Gaming Experience. From moving your stylus rapidly to hit the pong ball back or slowly cruising in asteroids, It has a very fun feeling. 5/5
Gameplay: How can I not like Atari's gameplay? They make the funnest games out of games so simple, a baby could think of them. - I just typed whats in the manual, Since I would be very bad at explaining it.
Breakout: Smash! Pow! Crunch! Use your paddle to bounce the bal toward the wall and smash the bricks, one at a time. A brick wall apears at the top of the screen, and your mission is to smash the wall. You've just got to keep the ball bouncing back and breaking through the bricks untill they're all wiped out.
Centipede: Stop the insect infestation with your bug blaster! shoot the centipede as it winds its way down through the forest between the mushrooms, but watch out! if you hit the centipede in the middle, it splits and leaves a mushroom behind. Blast the spiders, which like to cramp your style. Wath out for flreas which drop down the screen and leave mushrooms behind. Scorpions are the worst menace. they poison the mushrooms, Which drives any centipede that touches them straight down toward you.
Gravitar: The evil gravitar has set out to destroy unusupection galaxies with his hostile gravitational forces. He has installed a power ractor whithin the solar system of each captive galacy, creating a killer sun that destroys all life on the sourrounding planets. He has also blockaded those planets with leathal rammers and automated gun bunkers. Rid the planet of enimies while collected fuel to fulfill your mission.
Lunar Lander: Pilot the lunar module safely to the surface of the moon. increase and decrease thrust to control spead and steer the module to control trajectory. Land on any of the landing pads to score points and continue. If you run out of fuel, Watch out!
Missile Command: Missile attacks on your cities must be stopped! Take command of the Alpha, Delta, And omega bases. Fire your own missiles ito the kies in an attempt to thwart the desturction of your cities. Watch out for all kinds of attacks as the enemy forces attempt to destroy your defences. Aim the reticle where you want he missiles to go, but watch out for the time it takes for your missiles to arrive at the targets.
Pong: In this classic game, try to get your oppenent to miss the ball by hitting it back with clveryly angled shots. the first player to reach 11 points is the winnar.
Tempest: Aleins from another dimesnion? Blast them back to where they came from before they reach the edge of your tube and destroy you! rotate left, and reight then use your blaster to fire down the channels and destroy eniemies. When the going gets tough and you're crowded out, go for the super zapper to temporairly clear the tube of all enimes. the secret of this classic is to get into the rhythm of rotating and firing.
Warloads; Go medival on the competion! Deflect the deadly fireball into your oppendes calstes and take them apart brick by brick. As each castle breaks down, it becomes possible for the ball to hit the warlord inside. The object of the battle is to destroy the other three warlaords before your warlord is destroyed.
WOW MY HANDS HURT.. Stupid typing..
Sprint: Put the pedal to the metal! Floor it and drive your race car as fast as you can around the track, Completing as many laps as possible. Watch out for the other drivers, oil slicks, and edges of the track -- these hazards will slow you don and can cause a spin out.
I don't know much of
The downside is, Since these games have no acheivements at all, you will become bored very quickly. 4/5
Sound: The sound brings you back, Its the exact music uses in the original. The boinks from the ball in pong never cease to ammuse me. Or the boosters in Gravitar. Its all good. 4/5.. It could uses some WAKKA WAKKA though..
( ' < . . . . . . . . . .
Replay Value: Like I said, Theres no acheivments in this game, So you might never even come back to playing it for a while. But for that reason, Somepeople might think there isn't a reason to stop playing, Since you don't need to stress about finishing levels or getting the best items or scores. 3/5.. You will replay it sometimes though. Its one of those games that you get reminded of one day, then you'll play it alot.
Graphics: I don't know how I would really judge this game on graphics.
Since some of the games are remade to look better and some are left alone I won't rate this in the final rating. But I would give it a 4/5 Because if the graphics are bad, thats because the game is based on CLASSICS, You know, games from 70's, 80's, 90's.
Final Rating: 4.0 - Not bad for a "minigame"
Time for those Pros and Cons:
Pros:
+ Never Ending Classics
+ Graphics are good
+ It brings you back to when games were for entertainment, Not competition
+ Controls add a new prospective to Atari
Cons:
- When I said never ending, I ment never ending.
- No game acheivements
- Nothing really brings you back to play more
- Easily boring
Conclusion: If you like the classics then why not get this, I got this when it first game out so its gotta be only around 15 bucks now.
Thanks for reading, This is one of my favorite DS games and stuff.
