I've been recently playing Pokemon Saphire to get ready for the big release later this month when I was playing it on my Micro, I decided to do a review.
Multiplayer: No, It doesn't have a port for the cord.
Size: A little smaller then a deck of cards.
Weight: Barely noticeable.
Screen: Crisp, Clean, And Small.
Cost: $60.00 - $80.00 USD
Other information: Gameboy Color games don't work. You can change the plates on it. Comes in many colors, Very tiny.
People often talk about this in chat, And its usually a huge war on whether it sucks, or is a nice little gaget, It is indeed both.
Gameboy after Gameboy, We buy em, Nintendo keeps making them. But now that the Pokemon games have moved on to the DS, Who buys a Gameboy? After reading this you might want one.
(ok, not really. Don't waste your money when you can play them on your DS)
Screen: The screen, though tiny, is very clear and crisp. It adds a very nice view to any game. Mostly because the pixels are very very very tiny - If it even has pixels. You can very easily see the borders of your character and other things like that. Though it hurts your eyes faster than the SP. 4/5
Sound: For being so small this thing can get pretty loud. A little quieter than the SP. I like how they made the sound "button" Instead of it being the wheel that you find on all the others that often get turned up without you knowing the Micro has Up and Down BUTTONS. ZOMG GENIOUS. When you turn the volume up and down it has a nice little beep beep beep sound. 5/5
Gameplay/Comfort: As I said, I was recently playing Saphire. With this I played longer than I expected, Its so small and lightweighted you basically want to keep playing. Though you can get hand-cramps easier than the SP because it is so small and your hands are so close together. 4/5
^ Thats not me.
Lasting/Conditions/Batteries: I've had mine since launch and it has few scratches, Most are on the faceplate. Always use a faceplate, they protect your screen very well and come in many, many many many cool designs and colors. The battery lasts very long and when your charge it, it gives off a cool electric blue color from the letters on the Select and start buttons. When your batterys are dying the letters are red. The charger is slightly smaller than a DS Lite charger, And no, You can't use the Micro charger to charge a DS Lite, Same way around. 4/5
Overall: 4.25
Conclusion: Now that you've read my review your thoughts about the Micro may have changed, Though I give it alot of credit, This really isn't very special. The only reason I can say for you to buy one is if your SP broke, If you still use an Advanced you need to get money for it and RUN to your local bestbuy. I think Nintendo did a good job making this, But honestly, How many did they think they'd sell? The SP has a larger screen, And not only that; The DS Phat was out around the same time the Micro was released, Obviously people want the next Gen in handhelds, The DS, Which also supports Gameboy Color, And Advanced Games.
Now its time to break it down:
Pros:
+ Crisp screen
+ Lightweight
+ Small
+ Lasts long (if taken care of)
+ Sound/Volume
+ Perfect for traveling/Bus rides
Cons:
- Too small, Can be easily lost
- Odds are you have a SP
- Hand cramps
- Eyes hurt
- Cost is a little high (Price may be down now)
- No Multiplayer
Its mainly up to you, I baught one because I like having the most
up-to-date gadgets. I recommand you buying this ONLY if you don't already have an SP. Playing Gameboy games on the DS isn't as fun.
