Introduction
Have you ever played a Sims game and wished you could
just do something random to the town? Like, add a couple Police Stations so your stuff doesn't get taken? Well instead of wishing, now you can do whatever you want. Play as the mayor of a new town. Take requests from your citizens, build up. Build lots of hospitals so you can live long and prosper. Make your town a prosperous Metropolis, gain millions in tax dollars. I personally love this game, I'm into Architecture and such.
Storyline
For being a Strategy game, this actually kind of has a storyline, not clearly though. During the game, you can choose to put money into a research budget. With enough money in the budget you will eventually get more healthier ways to produce electricity, clean water, produce water, transportation, and other things.
As your town grows in people, you'll receive several other bonuses. Such as your very own Manor, a Museum, and even your own town Army!
Gameplay & Replay
The minute you pick up this game, say goodbye to your friends and family for a couple of days. You'll be hooked. Being a SimCity game, the possibilities are endless. Once your reach your land maximum, which isn't much, you can just tear that town down and start another. Using the DS's touchscreen will make building your City even easier. During the game, if your towns environment is bad, 'disasters' will occur, these range from typhoons to giant monkey rip-offs of king kong to power plants exploding! Using the touchscreen you can help advoid further damage from most of these disasters. When you reach enough people in your town, you'll start to get people coming into your office and asking for 'improvements' to the town. Don't approve their ideas often, because they don't stop coming. I seriously have over 20 Stadiums in my town, and people still come in demanding more.
^ A surplus doesn't really matter. It just means how much money you have in your hand at the moment. It isn't reflected on the condition of the city, just your wallet.
Sound
This time, SimCity features some techno. It has little boops and beeps when someone wants to see you. The music won't annoy you as much as other Sims games, You might actually want to listen to the music sometimes.
Controls
The DS's touchscreen is a great addition to the series, Use the styles to determine the size of zones, draw roads, place buildings, and alot more. The screen is at the perfect sensitivity in this game, making placing things extremely easy. When you place a huge new zone, it gives you a feeling of accomplishment!
But of course, its not perfect, you'll always have those moments where you can't seem to get what you want in a certain spot.
^ Roads
Graphics
For a Sims game, the graphics are pretty amazing. As we all know, Sims games are known to have fairly poor graphics. The buildings all have great detail, on some streets, you can even see the people walking around. I don't even have anything to complain about. The graphs and budget charts are clear to read and understand. The people you meet with don't have the faint, but always classic black outline. Looking back at 'Urbz: Sims in the City' for the DS, which was a launch title, the graphics have changed quite alot. But also, thats a whole different series.
^ Be sure to equally build the different zones so your citizens have jobs!
Game Modes Walkthrough
Build a Town: Build a town!
Post Office: Communicate with other people's towns.
Museum: This mode has buildings from the 'Build a City' mode and also bonus buildings. The Landmark collection of the museum shows famous buildings through-out the world, and some aren't even real. It even has Bowsers Castle in it!
^ Shows the Statue of Liberty in the Landmark Museum
Save the City: Solve problems of city's that aren't your own. (Why bother?)
Tutorial: Learn how to play the game!
Options: Set up the games options, Difficulty levels, volume levels.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pros & Cons
Pros
+ Endless Gameplay
+ Fun Music
+ Great Graphics
Cons
- Small amount of land
- Research takes long to get results
- Citizens are WHINEY!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Conclusion
I honestly can't think of a reason you shouldn't get this game. It's has exellent uses of the DS's touchscreen, which few in numbers this time around. For a small price, this game has the fun of a full length game.
